It exhibits dark mottling/spots on the head and cheek. The sides of the body display brown/tan mottling with 8-10 dark broad vertical bars. Narrow clear bars form spacing between the broad dark bars. The midline on the sides of the body is accentuated with small dark dashes. Scales are present at the base of the tail fin.

8 cm (3 in)

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Seaboard Goby's short, rounded caudal fin can be used to discern it from the Violet Goby, Emerald Goby, and Highfin Goby which all exhibit elongated lanceolate caudal fins. The Seaboard Goby can additionally be distinguished from more visually similar regional gobies by the presence of two isolated scales located at the base of its caudal fin. The rest of the Seaboard Goby's body is scaleless.
