Description:
Elongate body with a flattened, hammer-shaped head, and eyes on the sides of the head. No indent in center of head, and notches in front of the eyes create a point.

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:
Smooth Hammerhead Sharks do not have a notch in the center of their head, distinguishing them from Scalloped and Great Hammerheads.

Habitat:
Tropical to temperate seas, inshore to offshore. May be found near the surface or in deep water.
