Some helpful Submission tips
- Take a picture: If you can, take a picture of the fish you are trying to identify. This can help compare photos in a fish identification guide or asking for help online. Take photos, from different angles. Make sure the fins are spread out to show their shape and placement.
- Location: Let us know if it was in salt or freshwater. If you are unsure, a general GPS point on a map helps.
- Ask a local expert: If you are unsure about the identity of a fish, ask a expert, such as a fisherman, biologist, or marine science educator.
- Make sure to tell us the location of where you found your fish as well as any important details about how the fish or other bait was caught.
