Description:

Elongate and cylindrical, tan/brown body that tapers to a rounded tail. Wide flat head with 2 spines near front of elongate rectangular dorsal fin, 1 spine per opercle, 4 venomous spines total. Mottle coloring along entire length of body, fins exhibit alternating light and dark bands. Web of light and dark bars radiating outwards from eye. Fleshy flaps or "whiskers" along cheeks and jaws.

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Oyster Toadfish has a more flat head and 4 venomous spines which the Feather Blenny lacks. The Feather Blenny has a more robust body which tapers more from head to tail than the Osyter Toasfish.

Habitat:

Found along inshore salt and brackish waters with rocky bottoms, prefers areas with plenty of submerged rocks, reefs, jetties, and wrecks

Has a very strong jaw and bites.
