Description:

A small-bodied elongate fish with a terminal mouth, and a rounded tail. Two filamentous projections behind its eyes (cirri) are thick, minimally branched stalks. Densely freckled specks on sides of head, and short yellow vertical bar under and behind eyes.

Average Maximum Size:

8.4 cm (3.5 in)

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:

Feathered Blenny lack of distinct banding on their body, and have the yellow bars behind eyes. The shape of their cirri, as thick bands rather than with branching, distinguish it from Crested or Feathered Blenny.

Juveniles Distinguishing Characteristics:

Range:

South Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico

Habitat:

Largely reef and hard substrate associated fish, in strictly marine environments.
