Description:

Elongate cylindrical tan/brown body that tapers to a rounded tail. Vertical barring of dark and light spots along length of body that extends from top of dorsal fins down to the belly. Cirri (filament) above eyes. In males, slight light-blue spot on second dorsal, fins may exhibit slight light-blue tinge.

13 cm ( 5 in)

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:

Feathered Blenny cirri branches all the way up the stalk. Crested Blenny cirri (projecting fringes over eyes) are a single stalk with branching around the base only. Freckled Blenny cirri are a thicker band. The spot between the first and second dorsal rays will always be dark in Crested Blenny, but may be blue in Feathered Blenny.

Habitat:

Found in oyster reefs and along rocky shorelines. Prefers soft bottom coastal waters with submerged vegetation, corals, etc. May be found in seagrass flats
