Description:

Olive colored dorsally with silver bellies and pearly flecks and speckles. Blunt head and short snout. Females: 12-15 narrow bars on their side. Males: bars are absent or very faint, and belly may be golden. Caudal fin margin nearly straight.

18 cm ( 7 in)

Adults Distinguishing Characteristics:

Both male and female Gulf Killifish have pearly spots while only male Mummichog have this feature. Gulf Killifish are larger, and the males lack barring. Caudal fin in Gulf Killifish is straight (truncate) while the Mummichog is more rounded.
